The Tuzla Summer Institute (TSI) and the Doboj Summer Institute are intensive educational programs teaching practical skills to high school students, university students and local professionals in northeastern Bosnia. The curriculum includes English, computer science, business, and organizational development. All classes are taught in English. The summer institutes are open to students from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
The mission of the summer institutes is to help prepare participants for their university education, their professional careers, and their roles as citizens in a secular multi-ethnic democratic society.
The Tuzla Summer Institute is a joint project of BILD and the Tuzla Muftiate. TSI is hosted by the Behram-begova Medresa in Tuzla.The Doboj Summer Institute is a project of BILD with support from the Doboj Municipality. DSI is hosted by the Doboj Center for Education and Culture and the local high school: "Jovan Dučić Gimnazija".
Through three summer sessions, TSI/DSI teachers have been from Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Germany, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Tuzla Summer Institute is the result of several years of collaboration among BILD, SEEDS, the Tuzla Muftiate, and the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs (CIPA).
The Tuzla Summer Institute project proposal was created in the fall of 2008 by CIPA fellows under the tutelage of CIPA Director Prof. David B. Lewis. The work of Prof. Lewis' graduate students is featured in the 2009 CIPA newsletter.

The concept for an institute in Tuzla sponsored by the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs was first conceived of during Mufti Husein Kavazović's visit to Cornell University in March of 2008. Mufti Kavazović's international travel and accommodations at Cornell were financed by CIPA. Additional funding which allowed an extension of Mufti Kavazović's visit came from SEEDS. The inaugural session of the Tuzla Summer Institute was in July of 2009.
The Doboj Summer Institute began in the summer of 2011 with encouragement and financial support from the government of Great Britain, and the Doboj Municipality under the leadership of Mayor Obren Petrović.
In June 2011, the first implementation of the Doboj Summer Institute was enthusiastically attended by 52 high school students with 43 students attending 100% of the classes.
DSI's opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the British and Norwegion goverment as well as municipal and local community leaders.
DSI 2011 was hosted by the Doboj Center for Education and Culture. In 2012, DSI attendance will more than double and expand to include the Jovan Dučić high school.
