Working in close cooperation with SEEDS – South East Europe Development Solutions – BILD's programs benefit from annual contributions from American universities especially Cornell University and starting in 2010 Amherst College.
As a result of this cooperation, BILD has master's students and professors coming to Tuzla each year to help research, develop, and implement our projects. For example, Belma Pobrić from Cornell University spent the summer of 2007 developing our project „Creating Sustainable Income for Women in Eastern Bosnia“ which then received a $24,000 grant from the Soros Foundation. In the summer of 2008, Andrew Brenner conducted a feasibility study in Tuzla and then the results of that research were used in a class under the tutelage of Prof. David B. Lewis which developed our project proposal for the Tuzla Summer Institute. In 2010, Katherine Cole and Stevie Lin Thacker from Amherst College and Ruslan Abdulganiyev and Lillian Aoki from Cornell University formed our core faculty at the Tuzla Summer Institute.
In addition to hosting scholars in Tuzla, BILD assists SEEDS in selecting and preparing community leaders from Tuzla for visits to the United States.
