Associate Organizations

The shared resources of BILD and our associate organizations provide the capacity to implement programs benefitting 100's of people, families returning to their homes in eastern Bosnia, high school and university students in Tuzla, business professionals and more. Below is a short description of our collaboration with our associate organizations and links to their websites.

The Tuzla Muftiate

The multiethnic professional training programs of the Tuzla Summer Institute are made possible by the Tuzla Muftiate and the Behram-begova Medresa. In partnership with the Tuzla Muftiate, BILD is able to bring quality education to people of all cultural backgrounds in the Tuzla Canton. BILD's relationship with Tuzla Muftiate began when the US Embassy sponsored Mufti Husein Kavazović's first visit to Cornell University. Learn about the Tuzla Muftiate here and the Behram-begova Medresa here.

Prijateljice – a Tuzla-based Umbrella Women’s Association

Due to the extensive work of Prijateljice establishing 8 women’s associations in eastern Bosnia, BILD is able to implement effective programs such as our Soros-funded project: “Creating Sustainable Income and Empowering Women in Eastern Bosnia”. BILD first started working with Prijateljice in 2003 when Prijateljice participated in our World Bank-funded project: Nova Inicijativa. Learn more about Prijateljice here.

TUZAMK - Tuzla Automotive Club

BILD relies on TUZAMK for daily use of vehicles. In 2004, BILD helped TUZAMK receive a donation of vehicles from UNHCR. In return, TUZAMK agreed to provide the vehicles for humanitarian projects for 5 years. Even though TUZAMK is no longer obligated to do so, TUZAMK continues to provide BILD with full use of a Land Rover jeep and, when needed, a Passat station wagon. Learn more about TUZAMK here.

Feniks – Association for People Recovering from Trauma

In 2005, with one generous private donation, BILD donated a Kia van to Feniks, an organization dedicated to helping people recover from trauma. BILD first started working with Feniks in 2003 when Feniks earned equipment through our World Bank-funded project: Nova Inicijativa. Out of gratitude and a sense of shared purpose helping people in need, Feniks provides the van and a driver to BILD as needed. Learn more about Feniks here.

STARnet – a Self-sustaining, Student-run Computer Center

STARnet is a self-sustaining, student-run computer center managed and owned by the university student organization Progres, an organization dedicated to helping students with special needs. BILD contributed the seed capital needed to start the computer center through BILD’s project Nova Inicijativa. STARnet now provides unlimited computer usage to BILD’s staff, international guests, and to the teachers of the Tuzla Summer Institute. Learn more ».
